Our Methods Make Our Program Extraordinary

Since 2013, students have come to Yleana not just to learn but to overcome their individual academic challenges and get ready for their future.

As a result of Yleana, Maya received a Presidential full ride scholarship to Stevenson University. They have never and said they never will again provide a full ride scholarship; they generally only cover tuition and fees for Presidential scholars. And because of Yleana, she was open to exploring college options she otherwise would not have thought about.

How do we achieve our results?

Unparalleled curriculum, backed by research

Our team of staff and administrators ensures our curricula, program design, and teacher training remain unmatched. Our founder, Max Rosen, created Yleana after years of working as a teacher and camp administrator; he later went on to graduate from Harvard Law School as the valedictorian of his class. Yleana’s executive director and co-founder, Alyssa Bowlby, started as an IEP tutor, where for 5 years she worked one-on-one and in small groups to help content make sense to EVERYONE. Since 2013, she has worked tirelessly at Yleana to help students improve their SAT scores and get scholarships to competitive colleges.

Alyssa, the Executive Director, has been teaching the SAT exam since 2006 and the ACTⓇ exam since 2008, and has personally written much of the curriculum that Yleana uses, and continues to iterate every time she teaches. She takes a hands-on approach to curriculum, teaching, writing, and refactoring until they are satisfied that it passes the gold standard: it makes sense to a student who is struggling to understand.

We refine our curriculum each year, spending thousands of hours researching and testing new strategies to make our program as effective as possible. Our staff takes the SAT exam as many times per year as adults are allowed to (currently three - March, May, and October), which enables our curriculum to change in response to new patterns we observe on the test.

Finally, students can take the SAT up to 8 times over the course of the bootcamp - because nothing prepares you for the test like actually taking the test.

I feel sooooo blessed to have had the opportunity to be here. This is truly such a unique experience and I’ve gotten so much out of it and benefitted from everything fully. The teachers are some of the most genuine and kind hearted people I’ve ever met before and it’s really nice to have people genuinely care for you and want you to succeed. Thank you Yleana!!!!

Send your students to Yleana and rest assured that they receive the most updated strategies

We run in-school SAT classes during the year at high schools up and down the East Coast - from Boston to Baltimore. These classes allow us to innovate a curricular response to students' evolving needs, new patterns we've observed in students' retention, understanding, and linking of new information to previous information, and updates in the way concepts are being tested on the SAT exam.

We can guarantee students are receiving content which is not only the most updated according to the test, but also the most optimized according to their learning needs.
